According to sources, league spinner Shadab Khan has got rid of fitness problems. He practiced hard in the training session yesterday. While participating in batting, bowling, fielding drills proved his fitness. The team management has also breathed a sigh of relief when Shadab Khan got fit.

Head Coach Misbah-ul-Haq also gave initial consultations to Shadab Khan regarding a possible playing XI for the first match. Shadab Khan, who has the experience to lead Islamabad United in PSL matches, will be on the field for the first time to toss for the national team.

Babar Azam has suffered a fracture due to a ball hitting his thumb. Due to which doctors have advised him to rest for 12 days. As a result, he may not be able to play in the T20 series. However, in this case, Shadab Khan was supposed to be the captain, but he was feeling something in his leg. Now his fitness is improving and he will likely lead the first match against New Zealand. However, if he fails, there is a strong possibility that the captaincy will temporarily fall on Rizwan’s head.

Wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan and young Abdullah Shafiq will start Pakistan’s innings in Auckland’s first T20. Haider Ali will be number three and Mohammad Hafeez will be number four. The fifth position will go to Iftikhar Ahmed, sixth to Shadab Khan and seventh to Emad Wasim.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Wahab Riaz also will definitely play.

The first T20 with New Zealand will play on Friday. With captain Babar Azam out of the series, there was a question mark over leadership.
