Russo century QG defeated by Sultans

Due to Multan Sultan Russo’s Record-Making Century Gladiators Defeated by Sultans in HBL PSL 5 Match #12

In the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) duebto Russo century QG defeated by Sultans, thanks to Riley Russo’s record maker Century, Multan Sultans defeated defending champion Quetta Gladiators by 30 runs to secure first position on the points table.

Multan Sultan Innings

Multan Sultans win the toss and elected to bat first, in the match played at Multan Cricket Stadium on Saturday February 29. So openers James Vince and Zeeshan Ashraf gave the team a 23-run start after that, Zeeshan became the target of Naseem Shah while he was jus 8 runs. Vince and captain Shaan Masood had added 17 score partnership, then The English batsman Vince innings reached the end for the 29-run with help by 6 fours.
Moeen Ali who was played well in last match, to he failed just after 4 four stroke. It was the third dismissal for MS. Score board was just 43 while 8th over was going on.

The pressure was building up on the MS due to continuously wickets was thrown without increasing much runs. The runs rate was under 6.
After falling three wickets, Riley Russo came to the crease and changed the game. The South African batsman took all the bowlers of the Quetta Gladiators in his way and start  racking sixes and fours around the wicket.
The batsman completed the half-century with only 23 balls, but after the half-century, he took a more aggressive approach to the century.
Shaan Masood came out after scoring 46 off 32 balls But from the other end, Russo continued to bat well, scoring a century off just 43 balls and earning the Pakistan Super League fastest century.
Thanks to an unbeaten century from Riley Russo, the Multan Sultans scored 199 for five wickets in the stipulated overs.
At one point it seemed that the Sultans would only make 150 runs in the match. But a 139-run partnership with Riley Rosso’s batting charge and captain Shaan Masood, he paved the way for his team’s big score.

Quetta gladiators Innings

The Gladiators started chasing the target, while openers Jason Rowe and Shane Watson gave the team a good start to 57 runs. Shane Watson appeared in form for the first time in the league, but Roy struggled throughout the innings and was eventually dismissed after scoring 30 off 27 balls. Shane Watson showed excellent batting and set up a 41-run stand for the second wicket with Ahsan Ali. After that Ahsan 14 and Azam Khan returned to the pavilion with 6 runs. Shane Watson continued his excellent batting and it seemed that fans would get a chance to see the second century in the same match, but Imran Tahir ended Watson’s innings by 80 runs. And provided his team the potential for victory.
After that, none of the Gladiators batsmen were able to face the line and length bowling by Multan Sultans in the closing overs. And Quetta Gladiators was just able to score 169 runs in the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated overs. Then Russo century QG defeated.

Multan Sultans have won the match by 30 runs to further consolidate their first position on the points table and their number has increased to 8.

Man of the match
Riley Rosso, the fastest century maker of Pakistan Super League, was named the player of the match.

Teams squad

Both teams have made two, two changes in the final XI for the match where Sultans have re-added James Vince to Ravi Bopara while Bilawal Bhatti has also replaced to Shahid Khan Afridi, Bhatti make his place 1st time in PSL5.

Gladiators have replaced Anwar Ali and Ihsan Ali  instead of Time Mills and Ahmad Shehzad
