Kings XI Punjab batted first and scored 206 runs. Punjab captain KL Rahul took the charge of Bangalore bowlers and played a brilliant innings of 132 runs in just 69 balls. KL Rahul’s century weighed heavily on Bangalore. Chasing the Himalayan target of 207 runs, the batting of North Bangalore team proved to be a flop. Royal Challengers Bangalore score only 109 runs and they could not even cross the personal score of KL Rahul. Bangalore lost the match by 97 runs.
Kings XI Punjab Innings
Bangalore won the toss and elected to bowl first. Virat Kohli’s decision have weltered to the team. KL Rahul and Manek Agarwal shared 50 runs in the power play. Although Chahal bowled Manek Agarwal for 26 to give RCB their first victory, KL Rahul continued to score at the other end. KL Rahul completed his half century in 36 balls.
On the other hand, Punjab’s star players Nicholas Pooran 17 and Maxwell scored only 5 runs. Then Kroon Nair came to bat and he put KL Rahul on strike. Royal Challengers Bangalore dropped two catches of KL Rahul. KL Rahul hit 14 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. His score is also the best score of any Indian in IPL edition. The previous record was held by Rishbha Pant (not out 128).

Chasing the runs 207 in 2nd innings Bangalore’s captain Virat Kohli could score only one run. Finch scored 20 runs. Philip couldn’t even open an account. AB de Villiers started well, but he was dismissed for 28 runs. Shyam Dubey managed only 12 runs. Washington Sundar certainly played an innings of 30 runs, but it was not enough.
For Punjab, both its league spinners performed tremendously. Morogan Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi took 3-3 wickets. Sheldon Cottrell took 2 wickets. Muhammad Shami and Maxwell took one wicket each.
