In the first match of the three match T20 series. India defeated Australia by 11 runs to start the series victoriously. News reports by News18.

India lost the toss and elected to bat first. KL Rahul’s make 51 runs off 40 balls with five fours and a six while Jadeja’s scored 23 off 23 balls with five fours and a six not out. India team grabbed total 161 runs in 20 overs tern. In response, the Australian team scored only 150 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

Match Summary

Batting first after losing the toss, India did not have a good start and opener Shekhar Dhawan bowled by Mitchell Starc and sent to the pavilion. Dhawan scored a run off six balls. After Dhawan, captain Virat Kohli could not stay on the crease for long and dismissed for nine runs off nine balls with the help of a four. Rahul took charge and led the team’s innings and completed his 12th half-century of his T20 career by batting well. But then he did not raise up his innings and Moises Henriques was caught by Abbott and out.

Middle-order batsman Sanju Samson scored 23 off 15 balls with the help of a four and a six. Manish Pandey also failed to make his mark and fell victim to Adam Zampa by scoring just two runs off eight balls. All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who had a stellar performance in the ODI series against Australia. He also failed to do much and scored 16 off 15 balls with the help of a six.

Jadeja finally played a great innings and led the team to a challenging score. Washington Sundar, who was included in the team for the T20 series, scored seven runs. For Australia, Henriques took three for 22 in four overs, Starc two for 34 in four overs. Zampa one for 20 in four and Mitchell Sopson one for 21 in two overs.
